DMWS: “Ensuring a Resilient Economy through Partnership in Disaster Response”

PRESS RELEASE – Caribbean Central American Action (CCAA) is pleased to announce that following a four-year hiatus, the Disaster Management Workshop Series (DMWS) will re-launch on July 1, 2015, in Barbados.

The DMWS has been a flagship program of CCAA for the past decade. It brings government and the private sector together with disaster resilience professionals to discuss the importance of partnerships in the recovery planning process and to support the incorporation of disaster planning into daily operations. The event includes the signing of an inter-organizational memorandum of understanding for ongoing collaboration and support.

For the 2015 series opener, CCAA is partnering with the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), the Government of Barbados Department of Emergency Management, and Tropical Shipping.

The event will take place from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the  Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, in Bridgetown.

Information on locations for upcoming DMWS meetings throughout the Caribbean will be shared in the near future.

If you have any questions or are interested in attending please contact Sally Yearwood (syearwood@c-caa.org) or Nathan Tuebner (ntuebner@c-caa.org) at CCAA, or Lisa Gale, of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry c/o alicia.simmons@barbadoschamber.com.
