PRESS RELEASE – January 30, 2015

Washington, DC – Vice President Joe Biden announced on January 26, 2015, that The Caribbean Clean Energy Technology Symposium (CCETS), scheduled for March 24-27, 2015 in the US Virgin Islands will be one of the initiatives designed to foster regional collaboration on clean energy between the United States and the Caribbean.

Co-hosted by Caribbean Central American Action, the United States Department of Energy, and the Government of the United States Virgin Islands, CCETS will be the first in a series of regional stakeholder engagements to formulate concrete goals, sharing best practices, and addressing implementation strategies for clean energy adoption.

Working groups on Energy Education; Economic Growth and Clean Energy; Building Efficiency; Electricity Generation and Delivery and Energy Assurance; Baseload Electricity Diversification; and Clean Transportation will focus on sharing solutions and the development of peer networks. An Islands Playbook developed by the US Department of Energy will be made available for regional stakeholders at the event.
