2017 Washington Meetings
03/21/2017 @ 6:00 pm - 03/22/2017 @ 5:00 pm UTC-5
Caribbean Central American Action is pleased to invite you to join us in Washington, DC, on March 21-22, 2017, for a day of discussions and networking on the issues that are shaping U.S.-regional collaboration.
The meetings will bring together representatives from the U.S., Caribbean, and Central American public and private sectors, and will provide an early and important opportunity to discuss strategic engagement for Washington and the region. The program will include plenary discussions and presentations, as well as interactive roundtables, on priority areas.
- The program will open with a Reception on Capitol Hill on March 21 (specific details to be shared in the near future);
- H.R.4939, “The United States-Caribbean Strategic Engagement Act of 2016”, was passed into law in December 2016. The bi-partisan legislation outlines priority areas for advancing U.S.-Caribbean cooperation, and provides a framework upon which to build a mutually constructive relationship going forward. H.R.4939 calls for a report to Congress no more than 180 days after the passage of the legislation, and the March 22 program will be structured to provide stakeholder input to key items identified in the Act. Specific discussions will take place around financial services, trade, tourism, energy, security and education;
- Also on March 22, there will be meetings on U.S.-Central American engagement, with a focus on private sector development, public-private cooperation, and on areas of mutual economic interest.
Please contact Gwendolyn Siegel at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in being a part of this program. Participation is free for CCAA members as well as for government representatives. There will be a registration fee for all others and sponsorship opportunities are also available.
